Bassel

Music – Chicago

BASSEL & THE SUPERNATURALS is a folk/soul project based currently in Chicago fronted by Bassel Al-Madani. “Submerged,” Bassel Al-Madani's first full-length album, was released in the summer of 2010 and was supported with a four-week solo tour around the Midwest & Northeast regions. Shortly after, Bassel was invited to perform in the 2010 Pelotonia Kickoff Ceremony with The Counting Crows & Augustana. Upon his arrival into Chicago in the fall of 2010, various collaborations led to the full band formation. The official debut of Bassel & The Supernaturals took place at Double Door in October 2010. They have since made appearances in some of the most reputable venues around Chicago and the Midwest. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Bassel grew up in Kent, OH. With extensive family in the Middle East and a home base in Ohio, his artistic influences vary quite drastically. While spending his earliest years performing as a percussionist and violinist, Al-Madani began songwriting in 2003. His early ideas took on a distinct flavor of indie-rock/folk. After the completion of his full-length album (2010), his pallet adapted to the likes of pre-1970 soul music (Al Green, Otis Redding, Temptations, Etta James). His newest ideas combine all of these influences into a unique musical hybrid that is best experienced in any live dynamic, where Bassel seems to feel as comfortable on stage as he does in his own living room. Bassel intends to work on his newest studio production in 2012 with his full Chicago ensemble. Video/audio samples will be provided through his social networks before then, and all release & tour information will be updated accordingly.
