Visual Art – Perth

Born in the Hawaiian islands to an artist mother and surfer father Reif moved half way across the world to Perth Western Australia at a young age. Growing up by the beach and spending days after school painting at his mum Jos' studio Reif developed a passion for art and surfing early on. At age 15 he launched his mens board shorts label Ocean Zone which he still runs to this day. He graduated from UWA majoring in Entrepreneurship and Finance only to steer away from a desk job and continue growing the label. Reif used to paint as a means of getting by whilst studying, holding exhibitions and taking on commissions in WA. Reif has developed his own style of modern art combining bright colours and humour through his signature icons. His artwork is heavily influenced by beach culture including some of his signature favourites beach umbrellas, thongs, seagulls, beer and wine to name a few. Reif's work is best described as art to be enjoyed rather than analysed. Combining humour with clusters of detail they become conversational pieces. Its busyness attracts the viewer to spend more time engaging with the painting, pointing out new stories whilst hopefully having a laugh. He has recently arrived back in Australia from Dubai where he had his first International Exhibition 'Seagull in My Drink' hosted by NASAB.
